NFTConnect
WordPress Plugin for SuperRare at NFTHack - ETHGlobal
The plugin is now available for download at: NFTConnect – WordPress plugin | WordPress.org
As the crypto scene evolves, many new trends, platforms, and protocols are being created to transform the world as we know it.
This is the case of NFT’s (Non-Fungible Token), which are pieces of digital content attached to the blockchain, and are now allowing to start a digital art revolution.
I’m Fernando Torres, and as a Software Developer and Digital Marketing Specialist, I did research about ways to increase the reach, audience, and visibility of the current NFT’s marketplace through Digital Marketing Technology, and to my surprise, I found that WordPress doesn’t have any Plugin for posting art from NFT’s Marketplaces, so I considered it as a great opportunity to start my project based on that premise for the NFTHack competition.
SuperRare is an NFT Digital Artwork Marketplace with high-quality Editorial content, and I thought it was the perfect platform to start creating integrations between WordPress and their API.
Finding and understanding the usage of the current SuperRare API (v2) was a task of networking and a bit of fun technological challenge, as there is no official documentation to the date. Thanks to everyone at SuperRare who helped me get the pieces to make this possible.
On the WordPress side, shortcodes are a powerful tool for displaying custom content anywhere on the website, so I considered that shortcodes were the way to go for creating this project and allow the users to add artwork from the SuperRare marketplace as easy as possible into posts and pages.
This tool will make sharing NFT’s from SuperRare easier to bloggers and news companies using WordPress, and at the same time will serve as a growth hacking tool for building backlinks for SuperRare.
Here is the demo of the plugin:
First, you have to download, install and activate the NFTConnect WordPress Plugin.
After that, simply create a new post, page, or start editing an existing one.
If you want to add a single artwork from a SuperRare creator, use the following shortcode:
[nftconnect username=”creator username” url=”artwork url”]
As an example, if you fill the shortcode like this:
[nftconnect username=”pianoandthefox” url=”https://superrare.co/artwork-v2/a-very-radical-factory—3–21721″]
The NFT Artwork will appear into your post or page this way:
You can add a shortcode for every piece of digital artwork you want to display in your post or page.
It’s recommended to pass the url as shortcode content in case it does have square brackets, as shortcodes doesn’t allow to pass parameters with square brackets and I noticed many links at SuperRare which included square brackets from the name of the artwork.
Here is how you have to pass the url as content in the shortcode:
[nftconnect username=”missalsimpson”]https://superrare.co/artwork-v2/money-talks-[dirty-cash]-4542[/nftconnect]
If you want to display all the artworks from a creator, use the following shortcode:
[nftconnect username=”creator username”]
As an example, if you fill the shortcode like this:
[nftconnect username=”pianoandthefox”]
The NFT Artwork will appear into your post or page this way:
As you can see, adding NFT’s into your WordPress Posts and Pages is now easier with NFTConnect.
